Video Overlay seems to be Disabled with IOS 9.2

Help on issues you run into with LapTimer; in case you have a question on how to use LapTimer, use the forum "Using LapTimer" instead

Video Overlay seems to be Disabled with IOS 9.2

Post by fterence »

Hi Harry, I went through the forum and could not resolve my issue.

On previous IOS (8.x) and an iPhone 5s, I had no trouble with the Video Overlay.

Now I have an iPhone 6s (IOS 9.2) and I am using the XGPS160 and I cannot get any overlay info on my track sessions to show up on the video. I have racked my brains on trying to figure out what the problem is.

Is there an issue with IOS 9.2? Whenever Apple does an IOS change, it always reeks havoc with my Apps.

I've included the .hlptrl and .gpx files from a sample session.

Thanks,

FT

The lap sent looks like it has been started in the pits... But anyway, the data looks fine. I cannot test a lot more here because the other item would be to check the video (which is not part of .hlptrz exports).

iOS9 introduced some issues, but these should be sorted out mostly now that we have 9.2 and multiple LapTimer bugfix releases to add workaround :-)

So I assume we need to troubleshoot some handling issue. To start with, I assume you have started the Overlay using the Overlay button in the lap's details? What exactly happened, any message or just the standard display of progress plus congratulations when the overlay has been finished?

Hi Harry, The video was originated as RAW and then I set it to Overlay and nothing happened. There used to be an export or some sort of button to convert to overlay, but I see nothing there. There is no activity by HLT when I select Overlay. I thought by moving to cameral roll, it would automatically overlay the video, but it was the same non-overlay video. Attached are two screen grabs.

Should I delete HLT from my phone and reinstall it via iTunes?

Is there a way to use third party app to use the GPX data to overlay the video? This is a video I need to edit and share.

Is there a setting I need to use prior to use? I haven't changed a thing since my last use 4 months ago and it worked fine.

Thanks,

You switched the Video Type instead of running an overlay. You got an alert you ignored. ;-) Please goto Video Details and switch the type back to Raw. Next, goto the lap you want to overlay and press Overlay. This will create an overlaid video as expected. This is the way it always works, the type selection in Video Details is for troubleshooting only.
