Internal GPS used even if external is recognized?

Help on issues you run into with LapTimer; in case you have a question on how to use LapTimer, use the forum "Using LapTimer" instead

Internal GPS used even if external is recognized?

Post by mk1 black limited »

Hi! Just noticed, while preparing a video for overlay, that GPS Sensor under DATA RECORDING says 'Internal @ 1.0 Hz' even though I checked before I went on the track that the external GPS sensor was indeed recognized and was in use?

Probably not... Which smartphone and GPS do you use?

O.k., for this combination, the update rate and source analysis generating "Internal, 1Hz" is definitively correct. The internal GPS has been used. This can be due to some disconnect while driving, battery etc. Not common but can happen. LapTimer is falling back to internal sensors silently in case the external solution is not available any more... You will get a pop up shortly - but this is easy to miss while driving.

I'd suggest to retry during a dry run. Use e.g. manual start / stop in Classic View during a drive to work and check the recording afterwards.
