[SOLVED] Compatibility with itouch on 4.2.1 firmware

Post by HRCdub »

I use to run laptimer pro on a old itouch 2g running 4.2.1 firmware which has since died and itunes account lost/forgotten. I recently picked up a another cheap itouch 2g solely to run laptimer pro on my bike for trackdays but on the app store it says its only compatible with firmware version 4.3 and the itouch 2g is limited to version 4.2.1. Now before i splash out to buy the program again can anyone confirm it will work?

Hi,

I changed the minimum iOS to 4.3 with LapTimer version 16.0. In case AppStore lets you download it, you may try it for 4.2.1. As long as you use the same iTunes ID as during your initial purchase, you will not be charged again.

P.S. I will move this post to 'Using LapTimer' later.

I'll send you a time limited promo code. Although I will not get older iOSes into support again (that's simply more effort than I can invest), this is probably interesting for some readers here. So please share what works / does not later on. Thanks.

Hi harry. Im still having trouble getting the new 16.0.4 version to work on 4.2.1, the new version does install but crashed back to the home screen after about 5 seconds.

Ive tried a fresh restore of the itouch and tried installing from both itunes and the app store on the itouch. Has anyone else had success with firmware 4.2.1?

Hi,

Please check the following:

On the phone, open Settings, goto Location Service. Make sure both location services in general and for LapTimer are enabled.
Next, go back to Settings / General, scroll to the bottom, tap Reset, tap "Reset Location Warnings".
Try to start LapTimer again.
