Trouble connecting to GoPro Hero 8

Im trying to connect an external cam in question the Hero 8. I can get it to connect but I need to go to the GoPro app, Kill it, then Harry's will recognize it. It seems like a lot of work to get it to work, for now it is not a big deal, but I am seeing if there is a simpler way, as the GoPro forums are terrible for help.

The 8 and all later HEROs have been removed from the compatibility list because of this.

I recommend using this HEROs as any other action cam by operating it manually before leaving and when returning to the pits. You can transfer and link this video to LapTimer after the fact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXjVb8nWCXI
