Why different number of track sectors with different GPS's

Post by gaskleppie »

Hi,
Why do I get a different number of track sectors when I use my Tomtom cradle instead of the internal GPS?
When I use the Tomtom cradle I get 5 sectors at Zandvoort and when I use the internal GPS I get 3 sectors. Whats the idea behind this?
Its difficult to compare laps like this.

The number of sectors is increased every time a split trigger is passed. In your case it seems the internal GPS misses 2 splits regularly. I'd recommend to export one of these laps to KML and have a look into into it in Google Earth. Here, you can see pretty well what the recorded plot is and where the split triggers are place. Two options to work around: improve trigger placement, or widen the detection corridor in LapTimer's Settings.

Your (offcourse) right. The line doesnt match the circuit layout at all. Its a huge difference compared to the laps I did using the tomtom cradle.
Thanks for the fast reply.
