manually starting timer/video
manually starting timer/video
In older versions there was a way to manually start timing before hitting the first gps trigger. I can't figure out how to do that with v20

Re: manually starting timer/video
You can do it in the video preview window. There's a small red button in the upper left corner. Touch that and video/timing start. The internal camera has to be on, so in the selection menu that comes up when you touch the Video button in Timer view, you have to select either internal only or internal plus external and then Preview. There is, as far as I know, no option to manually start the camera in external only mode except completely manual timing.
Maybe this should be a Feature Request.

That's one option. The easier one is to enable Manual Timing in Settings. Once this has been set, Timer View (and others) will have a big red start button added. In case video is enabled, it will start both video and data recording. If not, it will start data recording only.

Re: manually starting timer/video
So by starting data / data & video recording manually, I assume the actual lap timing will still start at first trigger point? Ie. If I start manual record as I leave the car park of the Nordschleife BTG, will you the lap timing still start at the bridge and stop at the gantry? And Will video/data recording still carry on until I hit the red button again? Thanks
Re: manually starting timer/video
Starting recording manually, and using automated triggering afterwards, is called "mixed mode recording" in Video Documentation (www.gps-laptimer.de/documentation). Please have a look into it for more details. In case you operate LapTimer like this, it will start a manual recording in the pits. Once you hit the start trigger, it will stop the manual recording, and store it as an "incomplete" lap. It will start a new automatic lap at the trigger too. Video (if enabled) will be recorded as one session video covering both the "laps". Videos started manually need to be stopped manually too. This means video recording will continue beyond the stop trigger. NB: there is a glitch in the current version for track sets with distinct stop triggers (vs. common stop/go triggers for a start/finish line): once the lap recording is stopped, video recording will continue as described. However, there will be no Stop button as the lap is stopped already. The only option to stop video recording is to send the app to background. This will be fixed lastest in v21.
