Hi, I am new to Laptimer and would like to use to improve time and lean angle on a mountain pass which can be driven in two directions (A to B and B to A). I have the grandprix version of Laptimer, an iPhone 5s and a Dual XGPS160.
1 I have built the A to B track using new track with different start and end and various POIs (incl. warning for 180 curves). I believe it is pretty correct only on two POIs does it double-sense, not sure how I can narrow the beam
2 I would like to also do B to A but Laptimer tells me that there is conflict with AtoB and to purge its POIs or deactivate it. Any advise here? The basic logic is that once I have cleared the pass and am on the other side I want to drive back. Exactly same road just opposite direction, so I would need same POIs.
3 Lean angle. I would love to see the lean angle WHILE driving or at least fix it (like best lap). It is impractical to go to analysis to check it.
4 data analysis. Moreover on iPhone5 to analyse on small screen is dreadful so I have installed also on iPad but the two laptimers are completely separate. Is there a way of sharing data for better analysis on larger screen?
5 is it possible for Laptimer - using Bluetooth - to connect to helmet and call-out POIs as then I could programme POIs to say which gear and speed I should use for upcoming turn. Now it tells me on the screen of my iPhone but I prefer to keep my eyes on the road.
Thanks a lot,
C

Re: Motorcycle Newbie
1) Please send the track set to Harry@gps-laptimer.de (use Certify function). I will check if triggers are critical.
2) LapTimer does a simple overlap analysis here. In case you are sure the logic is ok (i.e. driving directions defined are in opposite direction and triggers are stop or go, not stop/go, you can ignore the warning and run AB BA at the same time.
3) have you tested this? Personally the most I get managed is recognizing finished lap times using the large Timer display while on a straight (with a motorbike). Lean would require something similar here... To me this sounds dangerous...
4) this can be done by exporting laps to .hlptrl and open the mail sent on the iPad. This is a classic export / import and will generate duplicates if applied more than once.
5) you can connect a BT headset to your phone and will get audio from LapTimer. Output is limited to lap times and beeps for splits. We had a thread on spoken corner and speeds already. The later sound dangerous to me again as a simple error in sensor data may suggest a too high corner speed.

Re: Motorcycle Newbie
Hi Harry,
Thanks for super fast reply.
1) I have just sent the log to you. Hope this is the right format.
2) not sure as the finish line of circuit AtoB would be start line of BtoA. I can try but at least visually on the map it will be messy.
3) on Lean Angle I did not explain well. On one of the four race views I would like to see in real-time the actual lean angle when cornering a curve. I understand Laptimer needs to calculate this from gps data as you do not have the lean angle sensor but still for motor cycles this is pretty important info. In fact I would encourage a race view dedicated to motorcycles.
4) ok. I will try. But pls check Strava as this is a really good visualisation engine for running and cycling.
5) ok, I too would support this change request. If you fear risk of legal action then just make sure there is a disclaimer users need to accept before activating the advanced Bluetooth option. However this is similar to the human navigator in rally racing so I do not see any harm.
Thanks a lot

Re: Motorcycle Newbie
1) I need the track set, not lap data. Please select LapTimer ‣ Analysis ‣ Lap List ‣ your track ‣ User Track Set ‣ Certify. Change the email address to my address.
2) As lon as you pass the line in opposite directions, this is no problem. Please check https://www.facebook.com/HarrysLapTimer ... =3&theater in addition, it should cover your two way situation.
3) A real time view does not work for motorbikes. Please try to watch any view while driving - it doesn't work. Glimpsing a lap time while on the (boring) start finish straight is o.k, anything else is difficult in a car already.
I have no issues with legal terms. When buying an app on AppStore or PlayStore a user pretty much takes all and any risks one can think of. LapTimer comes with a disclaimer you agree on every time it is started in addition. It is simply because I do not want to create tools creating dangerous situations for my users.

Re: Motorcycle Newbie
Whoops, I managed to purge all data. For some reason when I go into laplist for a track already executed it does not give me the track info just the gps. I will rebuild it now on iPad - much faster and send it to you.
