You reinstalled LapTimer? Please add some more details: which platform, which app, what exactly were your actions?

Sorry for being vague. I think I did this to myself.
I'm running the Grand Prix Edition v18.3.9.
When I updated to that version and it would not load. I went to Apple Store and downloaded the file. It downloaded and started. Not surprisingly, I guess, my history was no longer available to me--as if I was now a new player. However, I didn't repurchase the software. Just reloaded it. To the best of my memory, I didn't set up a new identity except that I had no user definition.
I suppose my question should have been, is there a way for me to retrieve data from that previous identity.

Data is stored in the app's sandbox. It is deleted when the app is deleted. During updates, data is not touched mostly. One thing frequently happening is mixing up LapTimer editions: e.g. in case a user buys LapTimer Petrolhead and upgrades it to Grand Prix later, the app is still considered "Petrolhead" by AppStore. It will show up as GP and offer the same functions available in LapTimer GrandPrix, but technically it is Petrolhead with GrandPrix enabled. So a guess: have you probably Petrolhead upgraded to GP and bought GP from AppStore now? This will result in two apps on your device (when installed) with two separate sets of data.

I know it is complicated but the only way to allow user both to upgrade and to purchase an upper edition directly.

Thanks, Harry, for trying to sort this out for me.
So far as I know, I only made one purchase--a couple of years back. I bought the top tier product at that time. I believe it was $29.95. When I redownloaded, there was no fee, no upgrade mentioned. I am quite certain that I paid only the one time. (Great value, by the way.)
It seems I screwed-the-pooch, as some of us say over here. Is there any way for me to discover the lost data?

You can see all your purchases in AppStore app. Follow "Updates" and "Purchased" to check for double purchases.

There are actually two scenarios that apply for you: 1) either the app has been deleted and installed again 2) LapTimer crashed for some reason and rolled back to an empty database. The later is done to allow operation when it happens on track and a later restore. For 1) you either need a recent iTunes backup or a full export to .hlptrl from LapTimer. In case you do not have these, the data is gone. For 2) please check viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2626 for the details.
