Overlaying from external video: Lap end time keeps changing

Post by bobbyw »

I have a clip that was recorded outside of HLT I'm trying to overlay data onto. I've done this before without too much hassle. Set the end time of the lap, overlay it, if there's any timing issues, tweak the end time of the lap and overlay again. Repeat until everything lines up perfectly.

The problem I'm having now is that I add the video to the lap, set the lap end time, and set it to only adjust the syncpoint for this lap only since there are no other laps or videos I care about, and then overlay the video. The problem is that once the overlay is complete, it's out of sync. I go back in and look at the end lap time and it's been changed from what I set it to. I've done this several times and as soon as I overlay, it's changing the lap end time in the video from what I set it to. Why?

Overlaying generates a new video (copy of lap range in video plus overlay). For this resulting video, the sync point is (mostly) set to a different offset than in the original video... So maybe this is the wrong suspect you are looking to? Once you select Revert, you will see the original sync point and the original video again.

You are correct Harry. I was able to get everything synced up properly when I stopped worrying about the sync point in the newly overlaid video. Thanks.
