i am running v 15.0.5 and assume it should be possible to create user defined segments on a track already in the track list in order to test different lines through a part of a track or to use it to time/instruct in car students. any hints on if/how this can be done?

Hi,
As long as you run iOS5 or later, please update to v17 first please.
You can add split triggers to existing tracks. Just add a trigger (e.g. using the top left button in Maps view) and change to following fields: "POI Set" -> select the track you want to add the trigger to; "Trigger" / "Type" -> select "Split". This will add a split trigger to the current map position. Drag the trigger around in case it is not positioned correctly from the beginning.
Future laps will include split times for the new trigger. In case you want to recalculate existing lap, enter Lap List > select the lap > select "Recalculate" and select "Splits". This will recalculate the sectors and add / remove split times.
