I noticed in your thread about android video, case #2 where it fails while in the background with the message that I got. I was on video screen but the scenario of passing the start trigger and getting a few seconds of video and then the error. That's the same error I got. Of course while on video screen because my device won't go background video.
Samsung gs3 on 4.4.2 paranoid android. Thanks!
Android video fails sometimes
Re: Android video fails sometimes
"Saving Video failed. Either operation has been interrupted, or memory is low"
Also I have plenty of storage fwiw. Thanks Harry!

Re: Android video fails sometimes
You have the video view open when this error message appears? The message itself is probably misleading, but the message means that video recording has been stopped due to some error condition.

Re: Android video fails sometimes
Yes the video window was open. Attached a screenshot. I thought maybe it did it after sleeping the device while the video window was open but I tested that and it didn't happen again. Once it does this you have to kill lap timer in the task list and relaunch it. I am pretty sure when it failed it was after I slept the device.
Also after sleeping the device with video view up, when waking the device the video display is always black. Exit video and then go back into video fixes it. Not sure if that has anything to do with the error.
In the screenshot you can see its the video view and the video has gone black after the error.

Re: Android video fails sometimes
I did because I was trying to simulate what I would do when actually racing - I would sleep the device between runs so that it doesn't get too hot. The video screen and the lap timer screen keep the device awake which is good. The downside to the sleep button approach is that every time it wakes it has to reinitialize the sensors etc. I can also try not sleeping it at autocross and see but I don't want to forget about it and melt my phone

Re: Android video fails sometimes
O.k., I understand. So the error message is actually correct as active video sessions are indeed interrupted when the device is sent to sleep. To work around the issue, press the back button twice. This will close the video view and close the timer view. In the Guide view, you will see the small lock symbol is open - which means LapTimer does not block the device from go to sleep. After a short time, the device will go to sleep.

Re: Android video fails sometimes
Okay understood. The problem is that the error happens after waking the device, allowing the sensors to reinitialize, and going into the video screen. All will appear normal and then after passing the start line and video starts, it will fail within just a few seconds. After pressing okay on the error screen, the view returns to the timer screen and timing continues but no video is recorded. I will try what you suggested the next time.
To be clear, there's some problem where the video fails when it shouldn't under normal driving conditions. Thanks!

Re: Android video fails sometimes
Maybe a problem with this Paranoid Android... I regularly test my Samsung S3 using the official 4.1.2 Android release and do not see this problem.
