Android video fails sometimes

Post by vmbray »

The error is about storage space or some other problem. I just installed a 32gb fast storage sd card and videos are being recorded there so that part is good. The first time it happened I thought it might be recording on the internal so I deleted some things and then it worked again, but then the next time failed. Is it possible it's reading the free space from the internal even though it is recording to the external? In the status display it showed 27gb free though. Android 4.4.2 on samsung gs3.

I can send a log if it works with history, I see that in the options but not sure what else you need.

App was working pretty great to start/stop for my test autocross though, running very fast. Thanks!!

LapTimer decides on the video folder when started. So in case you change the card while LapTimer is running, kill the app and restart it again. As footage stored on the "internal card" is not available once the external card is plugged in, please use any Android file explorer to copy this video files over to the external card.

It's recording in the right place and I can't change cards while its running as I have the phone in a life proof case.

So bottom line is there is plenty of storage but it is failing about half the time.

Would a log help? Thanks!

A description what "failing" means for you would certainly help ;-)

It says it failed :) I will take a screenshot if I can. It says it might be out of space or some other issue.

When does it say it "fails"? During Overlay, during recording, etc?

During an autocross test lap. It pops the message about 30 seconds in. No video is stored i.e. no file is on the storage card afterwards. Tried it this morning with start on demand while driving to work and it worked perfectly. I will try again with autocross triggers and see what happens.

Are you on the latest LapTimer version? Do you have the Video View open when this happens?

Yes latest. Yes have video window open - lap timer reports it can't do background video on my device. Didn't have time to do more testing today except one autocross run which worked fine. Got the update tonight and haven't tried except the autocross staging screen not keeping the device awake which is still happening. Thanks Harry.

Did a couple overlays with obd2 and garmin GPS and that is pretty cool!
