Laptimer App closes when trying to sync with GoPro Vid

Post by sidewayz »

Hi there. I am trying to overlay a GoPro video as PiP running the Laptimer app on an iPod touch.
I moved the video over to the iPod touch using the GoPro App.
Then I relinked. I can see the Master video (from iPod Touch) and the PiP video from the GoPro.
When I try to overlay, I can see the progression, up to about 95%, then the Laptimer app closes.
The issue is reproducible. The only difference is that it will close the app at different progression rates (50%, 72%, etc).
The iPod touch has 5Gb of memory, and the video is only 7 secs, using HD on the iPod touch, and 720/30 on the GoPro.
I have tried to reinstall HLT, and I've tried different videos with the same result.
If I try to overlay without adding the GoPro video, it work.

Any ideas?

This is most probably the known issue with iOS7 media server (see item #2 in viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1693). The iOS media server seems to leak memory and growth all the time. At a certain point LapTimer is killed due to missing memory. The only way to free memory again is rebooting the device. I hope this item will be fixed in iOS 7.1... Please try rebooting and overlaying the short video again. In case this doesn't work, please check if you can find a crash log (check viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1115 for a how-to) and send it to me. Thanks a lot.

I got it to work after 2 tries. On the first try, I used the GoPro app to transfer the vid from the GoPro to the iPod Touch. I was able to successfully resync, but when I tried to overlay the first time, it failed when it got close to 100%. HLT closed, and when I reopened HLT, the video I just linked was not there. I rebooted the iPod Touch and tried to relink the GoPro vid again. Then I retried the overlay. This time it worked as expected. The G-meter was off and there was a green dot outside of the g-meter "target". The speed was also off from the video. I will troubleshoot those issues separately and open a new topic if needed. Thanks for your help on this issue.
