Overlayed OBD data: YES on preview, NO on the actual video??

Help on issues you run into with LapTimer; in case you have a question on how to use LapTimer, use the forum "Using LapTimer" instead

Overlayed OBD data: YES on preview, NO on the actual video??

Post by mini_aaron »

So it's my first post on the forum,, want to thank you for making this amazing gadget!
I wish I had the set up when I was visiting the Ring 2 years ago. :D

current setup: Iphone 4, new ios, new version of HLT app, XGPS150, PLX Kiwi wifi.
So,, I just came from a track event, reviewed the data/video from your app, found a weird thing...
It says I have the obd data for the lap, and after the overlay, I can see the obd datas(speed, gear, rpm, throttle) in the "preview" section.
but in the ACTUALL video, the obd data is just ALL "0" and stays at 0...

And I found that it happens for the videos from the certain session, while the videos/data from the other session working beautifully....

Could this be the inturruption with the wifi/obd? but then, why does it say that there is a data and overlay-able? and showing in the preview section?
I just want to improve the irregularity of the system(not your app, but the whole system : gps, kiwi, iphone, and app setting)

Thx again for the great app, Harry!

Welcome to the forum!

Although this sounds like a dropped OBD connection, it is possible the issue is due to a known bug in PID exclusion: the current LapTimer version excludes PIDs it actually should not. The idea of excluding PIDs has been introduced because of regular issues with BMWs I tried to fight by excluding PID request that are not answered correctly. I fix is submitted to Apple already and should be available within a few days. To work around it for the current 17.1.4, please enter LapTimer -> Settings -> Expert Settings -> OBD Tweaks, clear the "Exclude PID" row, and turn "Automatically Exclude PIDs" OFF.

Thank you so much for your support/care!
I would try again on my next event for sure.

Onemore thing I want to mention is, after reviewing the all videos from the day, I notticed that the obd data/overlay compatibility was on and off even during same session.

But glad that you know what's going on, thank you for the great software!

Here is my overlayed short video. Beautiful! ;)
