Trouble with GoPoint BT1 and Harrys pro
I have a IPhone 5 with Harrys lap timer pro. The problem is with the GoPoint BT1 and Harrys together. It works until I pass the start/finish line the first time and then RPMs gears and throttle goes to 0.
It was working about 3 months ago but now it is not so I updated the firmware on the GoPoint but that did not fix the problem. What should I do next?

Re: Trouble with GoPoint BT1 and Harrys pro
I had one more report like this, so there seems to be an issue (although it doesn't happen for my tests). Please add some more information on the scenario: do you use a high update rate GPS (or the internal), which update rate do you get for OBD? What about the size of your database (please read out the header line in "Lap List"). Does it take LapTimer considerable to get responsive when the stop/go trigger is passed?

And I thought I'm alone with the issue...
My setup is with iPhone 4 and GoPoint BT1, using internal GPS and Video.
I reduced the video resolution to 640 to see if that has an effect, but no. Same behavior with all video resolutions.
Also tried with WiFi and Phone signals turned off, not really a difference.
I suspected the iPhone to be overloaded, but it seems like it is not.
I do regularly check the BT1 app for recent firmware updates.
Current reading in LapTimer. Runden: 10 / GPS Positionen: 1718
But it happens from the very beginning.
measures drop to zero for quite a while.
Also I do have the very same issue with the Optrix VideoPro, only that there the indicators (speed, Revs) they just grow for a while to unbelievable numbers before things drop to zero, then recover.
Can send video links later if this would help to better understand the issue.
Can run whatever tests that are required, proper instructions given (I'm an IT guy, though).
Thanks

Re: Trouble with GoPoint BT1 and Harrys pro
It seems both LT and VP lose the connection to the BT1 when crossing the line? The different behavior (zero values in LT, and big values in VP) is due to the extrapolation that is removed in LapTimer already, so this is something I understand. Initially I thought the connection drops due to overload when storing a lap finished, but that timeout is sub second for all but very long tracks with high update rate GPSes already (and will be reduced by factor 3 in one of the upcoming releases).
Can you please provide some additional data: which car do you drive?
Please check LapTimer -> Settings -> Expert Settings -> OBD Tweaks -> Exclude PIDs in addition. Do you see a value here (i.e. not empty)?

Re: Trouble with GoPoint BT1 and Harrys pro
I'm having a similar issue. When OBD1 (BT1) is connected (bluetooth), my speed goes to zero. Sometimes my rpm does the same, but I can usually see RPM, throttle and gear fine. When I disconnect the OBD, my speed is showing again (of course, rpm goes away). If I'm driving with OBD in (zero speed shown) and pull out the OBD, it jumps to my current speed in 2-3 seconds. Similarly, if I insert the OBD while driving, the speed shows zero after 1-2 seconds. I've used the OBD in the spring thru June without any issues. It's an intermittent issue, but happens 90% of the time (sometimes it works ok), and never happened before.
The phone seems to get pretty hot more quickly as well - much faster than it used to (always a watch-out and I keep screen on low).
I'm using a 2 month old iPhone 5. IOS is up todate and I'm on v 17.1.4 My older iPhone 4S (which I used in the spring) has the same issue now, intermittently. I use internal (iPhone) GPS. My other apps are fine (tomtom, google maps, MotionX GPS...)
Since you asked for data from the other guy.... My Excluded PID's: 010001200140. Speed multiplier: 1. Throttle PID: default. auto Exclude PID's: ON. I'm driving a '99 Miata, stock.
By the way, how can I see temp data recorded (document says it's recorded but i can't see after the session)....
Thanks Harry!

Re: Trouble with GoPoint BT1 and Harrys pro
The change in speeds when adding / removing the dongle are due to LapTimer's switch of speed source: as long as an OBD is connected, LapTimer shows OBD speed (even if zero), otherwise it uses GPS speed. So this item should not be considered an issue but works as designed.antraasa wrote:I'm having a similar issue. When OBD1 (BT1) is connected (bluetooth), my speed goes to zero. For the iPhone getting hot I assume this is some coincidence of the OBD issue and a changed usage scenario (e.g. video added, wifi on, something else).
The excluded PIDs are most probably part of the OBD issue. They exclude all requests by LapTimer to understand which PIDs are actually supported. This can lead to undefined behavior. Please remove "010001200140" and turn off "Auto Exclude" in your expert settings and try again. In case it still doesn't work, please follow the instructions here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1500 and send an OBD log.
Your whole situation is probably not related to the thread starter, as he observed the OBD outage after passing the start / finish line. In case this has been the same for you, please let me know.

Please check the Exclude PIDs section too and let me know what you see.teamsleeper48 wrote:I have a IPhone 5 with Harrys lap timer pro. The problem is with the GoPoint BT1 and Harrys together. It works until I pass the start/finish line the first time and then RPMs gears and throttle goes to 0.

I'll try to do that in the coming days.Harry wrote:Can you please provide some additional data: which car do you drive?

Updated to latest LapTimer 17.1.4 already as of yesterday, so I can check if that is fixing the issue.
I'm running this setup on Ford Hardware: Focus 2 RS and StreetKa
Re: Trouble with GoPoint BT1 and Harrys pro
17.1.5 fixed it the zero MPH issue!
Thanks Harry!

Thanks for the feedback, hope it is the same for all others!
