Will HLT work if sim card removed from iPhone 4S

Hi all,

I used HLT on a track day last weekend and it worked great! Showed it to a few at the track day and they purchased it then and there.

I am getting ready to upgrade my iPhone from 4S to whatever Apple will call the next one. I have a GoPoint GL1 (cable version) that I use and don't want to loose that functionality.

So my question is... when I upgrade my phone I will no longer be paying for data on the 4S. The SIM card will be removed. I know I will loose cellular network (preload tracks at home on wifi) but will I loose the functionality of GPS as well?

I could purchase the 30-in to lightning adapter for the GL1 and the new iPhone, but don't know if it will work.

Any advise on either option?

The iPhone will work fine without SIM. I have an iPhone 4 I use without SIM, so it's basically an iPod Touch

I use one an iPhone without a SIM card and my new one as a multicam so if I get a text or call it doesn't interrupt anything on the main timing device.
