Compatibility Question

Funny...just yesterday a friend of mine mailed me that link too. As far as I know, Bluetooth devices have to be Apple Mfi certified to be able to connect to the Iphone etc. But some time ago I read something about a newer Bluetooth profile that would make it possible without Mfi. Anybody more info on that?

Not without jailbreak and the usual roqyBT OBD tool chain. Please always take care what you plug into your car's bus! Another important criteria is automatic turn on/off - otherwise you will drain your batteries are fiddle around with the plug all the time.

There is indeed this Core Bluetooth framework available for iOS devices featuring BT Low Energy (i.e. iPhone4S and iPhone5). This will not help however, as the current implementation of LapTimer is based on a different iOS framework (EAAccessory) abstracting from all of this transportation layer stuff. Actually LapTimer does not see any difference between a plugged-in and a BT connected device, but EAAccessory requires Mfi certification - unchanged. Please understand I will not add Core Bluetooth support just to connect to some no name products. In case EAAccessory is 'out' at some point of time and Core Bluetooth gets the preferred connection technology for brands, I will certainly reconsider.

Just too say roqyBT OBD is causing issues for some, mine no longer works on 6.1 or 6.1.1 on my 4S.

I not others are reporting issues on iPhone 5 as well.

Ok so i helped Roqy with this and found a resolution to the issue.

Anyone with an issue should just uninstall, reboot and then fresh install and it should work fine.

Hi,
As the new jailbreak came up, the cydia servers were overloaded. roqyBT might have been badly installed (missing package erica utilities). So just try to uninstall, reboot and reinstall.
roqyBT4 is now tested on all iOS 6.x with GPS and OBD devices, working great.
