Sensor list and PIDs

Post by Srcypher »

I couldn't find something specific on this, please advise if I'm missed the link or the manual...

Are PIDs selectable in the overlays? If I wanted to display IAT rather than RPM 4 digits (since there is a rev display already) is that possible?

PIDs aren't selectable but the next version will introduce selectable throttle PID to vercome problems with BMWs. Haven't read about any other selectable PIDs.

This cannot be changed currently. What does IAT mean? Which code / PID is this?

Should be: intake air temperature, PID 0F

Hi,

But that's on fuel to air mixture regulation. What is the reason you want to see it overlaid on a video? It is not for driving improvement but more on engine optimization, right?

Possibly, but any data can be helpful when you are on the track. The default PIDs/data that you currently have displayed (lap time, speed, throttle and RPM) are helpful for pretty obvious reasons when evaluating driving performance. But other data can be valuable when evaluating car performance on the track as well. For example, at my last track event, I was having some overheating problems under different conditions. Having data such as IAT, ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature), among other data/PIDs, would have been helpful for some analysis of both the driver and car.

Don't get me wrong, I know you don't want your app to turn into an engine tuning tool, and I would agree. But since the data is already there (i.e. being recorded/imported by HLT via the OBD II port with the right hardware) why not have the option to display it in the overlaid video?

Harry,

Here is another plug for the ability to overlay more OBDII data on the video ;) . Earlier in the thread you had questions about how some of the OBDII temperature data (like Engine Coolant Temp, Intake Air Temp, etc) were useful for track use. Check out this track video.....

http://vimeo.com/47432194

I don't know what software or data acquisition system he used, but you can see that in addition to the current type of info that HLT also overlays in video, he also has temperature data as well on the lower left of the screen. Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to v16!
