Lap times, video - nothing working right.

Post by bldn10 »

At the last 2 events I did, at Memphis and Barber most everything was messed up. E.g:

Lap 1 would show a time of say 1 min., lap 2 5 mins., lap 3 10 mins. - none correct. Sometime it cut off lap early, other times it may have strung multiple laps, in whole or part, together.

Although several laps showed videos, the same video would be on each one. A lap might show as 1:20 but the video would be several laps.

Lap track maps looked like they were drawn by a 5 year old w/ an Etch-A-Sketch. It could be that some POIs are being missed and the program connects the dots it has. Are POIs necessary? Can I just delete everything but start/finish?

No video this past weekend - said not enough memory. Is this the iPhone memory? What's are the worst users of memory?

bldn10,

Please first make sure you have installed the latest version of LapTimer (v15.0.5) and run the data check available in Lap List. Although I believe most of the topics named above have a different reason, it is better to be sure your data is in good shape.

LapTimer records videos continuously, not by lap. So it is normal you get one large video. The lap view is generated as soon as you add an overlay, this will both cut the lap area out of the overall video, and add the dashboard graphics and data. More information on this can be found here: http://www.gps-laptimer.de/Video.html

Lap tracks looking like a 5 year old drawing almost always are due to bad GPS conditions / wrong mounting position. This is the most common reason for missed triggers and multi / no lap recordings. Please read here how to check: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2

I'd suggest to not start changing POI sets in your situation. Although a minimal track sets consists of one stop/go trigger only, there is no reason additional POIs should disturb LapTimer. The track sets you download from the Tracks list have typically proven hundreds and thousands working laps.

Hope that helps for the beginning, maybe we can drill down into your situation deeper once you have checked the points above?
