Hi All (and Harry),
I usedHLT for UK hill climbs but got frustrated by the delay in the video captrue after doing a standing go start as HLT gpt the iPhone to get recording video.
Now I run a Go Pro 13 for video capture!
So, if I set up a hill climb track (using a racebox mini as GPS source and a dongle to capture car data) with a finish line and a standing go start trigger will HLT record all data from launch or is there still a 2/3s delay after the acceleration 'event'?
By doing this I can avoid my old delay in video capture and combine my run data with the GoPro video post the run once I have edited it down to the correct length.
Thank you
Snowy
UK hill climb - data only question
Re: UK hill climb - data only question
You need to operate the 13 manually. Automatic starting is not supported for cams after HERO 7. So just start the cam before going to the standing start and use LapTimer for data recording only. Stop the cam once you have finished the hill climb. Once back home, upload the video to your smartphone and follow instructions in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXjVb8nWCXI to link the data with the video. You can overlay it in LapTimer afterwards.
Important: do not use special video formats / features the HERO offers. Use a plain UHD 4K with 60Hz max.

Re: UK hill climb - data only question
Hi Harry,
So an o interesting weekend and a request for some advice.
I got my 2nd and third best times at Shelsley Walsh and used your app throughout.
I used my GoPro 13 independently to film, just running the camera.
I then used laptimer grandprix having set up the Shelsley Walsh staged start and finish. All this worked well.
I am using a Kiwi3 and Racebox Mini GPS. I set up everytjing love for about ten mins before the run; power to the Racebox Mini and phone. Status was green. track yellow (as used defined) and no video. OBD update rate good and GPS all green.
Three runs a day they last about 31s each. The first runs each day worled fine taking c833 data slice from GPS and OBD running at 25Hz.
But the second two runs only recorded at the iPhone 1Hz update rate so 31 data slices each.
In each case I come to the line, check status, click timer. The little press when staged button appears. When I am chocked, I go.
I think Ive used the same protocol for each of the six runs.
Ive ordered a different OBD reader the MX+ and am going to try a Columbus permanently wired GPS.
Any advice and thoughts?
The end product of overlaid data is def worth the effort of making this work more consistently!

Re: UK hill climb - data only question
Yes, you have quite a complex setup with all these gadgets.
The reduction of GPS sampling from 25 to 1 Hz is an indicator the connection to the Racebox got lost. I had some reports on this during the last year. I have never seen it for my own testing device, so this is difficult to investigate. The upcoming LapTimer release will have a small integration update for the Racebox again. Please let me know if the problem is going away once it is getting available on the stores.
