CarPlay (iOS) / MirrorLink (Android)
Re: CarPlay (iOS) / MirrorLink (Android)
I have applied for CarPlay a third time a few weeks ago. No reply, neither yes or no.

no news about Carplay application?
Re: CarPlay (iOS) / MirrorLink (Android)
There is actually news on CarPlay. Our apps have been approved for Apple CarPlay use and we are in process of adding support to LapTimer. My Camper app has received CarPlay views already (not yet released), so I made some experience already:
- Harry
- connected to CarPlay, the phone's screen can be turned off and LapTimer continues receiving sensor data; this is good news
- display updates are allowed every 10 seconds only (policy), so there will be no Timer View replacement on CarPlay; this is odd
- the plan is to display a list of recent laps with the last one and the last completed sector highlighted

Looking forward to having Laptimer on CarPlay next year. Regarding the display update being limited to 10 seconds, is this a "verbal" or written policy, or is it actually enforced in CarPlay ? I don't think it will be enforced or there is a workaround somewhere.
Below is link to one of my video's that shows Porsche Track Precision running with CarPlay, and you see the "timer" display clearly updating in near realtime on the PCM display on the dashboard. I hope you can also develop Laptimer's TIMER display as well.

Best luck with the development,

Written, like all rules applied during Apple's app reviews. Porsche's app is in a different category, they got approval for a track focussed app long before we "normal" developers could apply for Car Play support. But we will see.

Re: CarPlay (iOS) / MirrorLink (Android)
Yesterday I noticed by accident my Carplay radio was showing the Laptimer App...and indeed it works! Finally
Just wondering if the features I see right now are the final version or will things like the delta bar added later? Pretty sure Apple limits what you are allowed to do
Still happy we have something at least.

We had the discussion on the CarPlay prototype on https://www.facebook.com/HarrysLapTimer CarPlay is indeed super-limiting to what can be done. The screen with the big numbers is actually a violation of Apple policies because it updates more often than every 10 seconds.bulls23 wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 7:56 am Yesterday I noticed by accident my Carplay radio was showing the Laptimer App...and indeed it works!
