Ability to associate laps with movies in "iPod"/"Movie" app
Ability to associate laps with movies in "iPod"/"Movie" app
Hi. I used LapTimer yesterday at the track and it worked great.
It would be nice to be able to specify a different video source for putting an overlay.
Currently, it is possible to select a different video from the 'Photos' app. However, any other movies on the iPhone, such as in the 'iPod' (iPhone) or 'Movies' (iPad/iPod touch) app cannot be seen.
Is it possible to make these visible? By doing so, we could edit other movie sources and put on the iPhone to have those overlayed.
Alternately, maybe a desktop app companion to LapTimer could be made which would allow this to happen on the PC/Mac.
(If there is already a software which can do this, let us know...)
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm not sure the iPod / iMovie apps expose their content to other applications (LapTimer). I'll put this on my list and check for the next version.

Re: Ability to associate laps with movies in "iPod"/"Movie"
I second this request. I have a ContourHD helmet cam. I would like to be able to use LapTimer to add a video overlay to videos from that camera. The high end data acquisition tools (Race Technology DL1, Traqmate) can do this, but it's really expensive.

Hi,
I believe the original poster asked whether LapTimer would be able to access both videos stored in the Photos app, and in other apps (like iPod and iMovie). LapTimer actually doesn't care about the recording source of a video - as long it is available in the Photos app. Please check http://www.gps-laptimer.de/Video.html for some info how to use externally recorded videos with LapTimer.

Fantastic! That's just what I want to do!
Re: Ability to associate laps with movies in "iPod"/"Movie"
I am trying to use an external video recorded with a GoPro cam. I have added the video to iPhoto Application in my Mac, and it appeared inside Photo App (not in Camera Roll, but in a folder). LapTimer cannot see it. Is there any workaround? Does it requires the video to be in the Camera Roll?
Re: Ability to associate laps with movies in "iPod"/"Movie"
Hi,
The video can be in any folder. Problem is, that the list displayed in LapTimer is not updated when the Photo library is changed by iTunes sync. This seems to be a problem in the inter-app communication I was not able to fix so far (seems to be something iOS specific). To work around, quit LapTimer (bring task bar forward by double pressing Home, press any app long until the icons shake and a black cross appears, kill LapTimer), and start it again. Video should be there now.

Re: Ability to associate laps with movies in "iPod"/"Movie"
Ok, dumb question. How do I upload, for example, a GoPro video, to the Photos app?
Re: Ability to associate laps with movies in "iPod"/"Movie"
That is configured in iTunes's synchronization settings. Start iTunes, select the iPhone you want to synchronize, and enter the Photos tab. Here, you have several possibilities to select synchronization of photos AND video.

Ok... So as a Mac user, the GoPro video has to be in my iPhoto app, correct?
