just received Dual XGP150, but having trouble installing the 5Hz update. It keeps 'writing' and it never finished the update. I already installed the latest firmware on the PC as well.

I had similar problems when trying first. It seems the update process is a bit unreliable. I cannot tell you what I did exactly, but most probable it has been a reboot of the PC, removing other connections and things like this. Finally it worked. I'd suggest to contact Dual directly because they have more experience here.

does any know how long the battery last using 5 hertz? i want to mount this on the top of the windshield, but it would make it hard to run the charge cable to the top.

Sorry, I don't know, I always run mine powered so I can forget about it!
Any reason you cannot mount on the dash?

This message is also posted in "Announcements" (if allowed so!)

I received my XGPS150A yesterday. Had it working fine at 1hz with HL out of the box with my IP4. I then spent 4 hrs trying to update the firmware, so far unsuccessful and I fear I even got the original firmware bugged up!
1: Firmware download from DUAL homepage :D
2: Computer (one Lenovo X201 running XPP, one T61 running W7) did not see the unit :(
3: Prolific driver link in FW1.1.2 update instructions.pdf took me to a totally unusable japanese side
4: The USB/serial port driver v1.5.0 could not be located, however through Prolific site I found V1.6.0, which I installed on both PC's
5: On the X201 XPP laptop, the xgps150fw-v1.1.2.exe can not find the unit, whatever I am trying, and all contact freezes to the XGPS150A. This in spite of being able to see the unit in device manager :x
6: On the T61 W7 the XGPS150A is recognized, and xgps150fw-v1.1.2.exe does indeed find the unit :D
7: BUT: starting "program" it imidiately starts writing, continues for 26 seconds and starts over again

I am running out of PC's to test with, why I ask for some good advise as how to get nearer to the wanted 5hz HL nirvana I have been aiming for. I have the excellent but slow TomTom unit for the IP, so another 1hz unit is not on the wish-list. 5hz will bring back the smile to my face for the next PCD (Porsche Club Denmark) trackday, when the old 911T is getting punished to the max :-)
