Re: Problems with video overlays

Post by bensf »

Harry,

Just purchased Lap Timer Pro and using it on the latest ipod touch with a Tom Tom car kit. The program is incredibly feature rich and I'm very impressed with your product. I'm testing it out before heading for a track day this Friday. Everything seems to be working except the overlay function. When I go to overlay the video from the lap list, the processed video comes out with a resolution of 960x720 and the video before processing is 1280x720. Very annoying since the resulting video is squished width wise, everything comes out narrow and tall. Is there a solution? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Ben

Which device did you use? Both for recording and for overlaying? 960x720 is the iPod 4th gen resolution.

I'm using the ipod touch for both recording and overlaying. The video recorded before overlaying is 1280x720. It's only after overlaying that the video is converted to 960x720.

I also want to add that the ipod touch records video at 1280x720. It takes still pictures at 960x720. I think there has been some misconception in this regard. Please help with the overlay problem. Thanks.

Hi,

I will change this in v13.3.1 Currently, LapTimer reduces video size to 960 in width (obviously didn't read the spec fully).
Please keep your original videos so you can overlay them again once 13.3.1 is out.

Great thanks for the reply. I thought I was going crazy since no one else reported this problem. Do you have an ETA on 13.3.1?

Well I need to submit it this evening. Apple typically need 1 or 2 weeks to approve. I will try to accelerate the process as another, more severe bug needs to be fixed fast.

Harry,

Thanks for the quick update. The overlay function for the ipod touch works perfectly now.

Re: Problems with (external) video overlays

Post by k1300rch »

Hi Harry

I saw your YouTube-video for the overlay of the laptimer-data with an external video. I followed the instructions, added the video but always got the same error: "overlaying flailed either video or data recording ...". I can export the data via E-Mail and the video is there alright, so Io figure that video and data are there...

Is there a special format the video has to have? Exactly the same length as the data recording? What format did you use?

Thanks for your help.
