Hi,
I recently bought Kiwi Wifi module. No problem in connection, or seeing the data (instantly) on iPhone screen. I did a quick test around where I live (created a "track"). I used GoPro to record the video.
Then, I used chasecam - dashware software (trial version) to overlay the HLT data on GoPro video. Speed, throttle, and brake inputs and map are all displayed correctly. BUT, the RPM data is not shown. Is this because of chasecam/dashware? I verified that HLT recorded the rpm data among with the other data.
thanks!
PS: The car is 2011 MINI Cooper S.
RPM data not showing in Chasecam
Re: RPM data not showing in Chasecam
Hi,
I believe the style / mapping for Harry's LapTimer is a little outdated. At least the one I provided to them some time ago, has no OBD data included ('throttle' is lineal acceleration). You can edit this style / mapping within DashWare. I'm not an expert here, so please in case you run into problems, contact the DashWare people.

Re: RPM data not showing in Chasecam
Hi Harry. Thanks for the quick response.
I did some digging in Dashware software, and found out that even though HLT provides RPM/MAF/Throttle/Gear data, Dashware is not exporting these columns. I asked this question in their forum, and will keep here updated when I get an answer.
thanks.

Re: RPM data not showing in Chasecam
I got the RPM working. But I'm having trouble with Throttle. I *think* I found the problem. HLT is recording the throttle position (from Kiwi WIFI) in the range of 0 to 1, whereas Chase Dashware is expecting the range to be 0 to 100.
I have a workaround: Open the .csv file, and multiply the recorded throttle position by 100 and save again, but when I do this, I can't open the file with Dashware again...
A separate question: I have a 2011 MINI Cooper S, and I don't get and brake info recorded. Is this because of HLT, or is it because my car doesn't give out this info through the OBDII?

Re: RPM data not showing in Chasecam
Please check you have not included some syntax errors when editing the file. I assume this is the problem if Dashware doesn't import the changed file. Please check in addition if it is possible to add a multiplier in the data mapping - I remember there were options like this in Dashware.
As braking is not related to emissions, it is no standardized value in OBD II. So even if your Mini provides a brake value on its bus, it is not accessed. So to show braking, you will typically use the negative lineal acceleration value provided in LapTimer's export file.

Re: RPM data not showing in Chasecam
Hi Erahn,
When you mentioned that HLT is recording acceleration data in a range of 0-1 doest that mean its also recording different throttler level with smaller values between 0 -1 ? Im asking because i've been trouble shoot an issue of mine, where my throttle even when sitting idle at a traffic light, HLT shows throttle to be like %25,, my throttle also never seems in sync with the rpm...even though my rpms are dropping fast, HLT shows full green throttle bar like i have the pedal smashed to the floor, where as im not even toughing it.
Do you have any problems with throttle display in an overlayed video for e.g?
thanks

Re: RPM data not showing in Chasecam
I PM'd this but also posting here:
Hi there.
Work is busy, so I haven't spend too much time on this. My throttle graph seems to be working OK when multiplied by 100. Just to clarify, I think the car sends the throttle data between 0 and 1, the chasecam needs a data between 0 and 100.
Your car might be sending out the info in different range. I have a 2011 MINI Cooper S. Also, the OBD2 device might have an effect, I'm using PLX.
My only problem with throttle right now is that it has discrepancies. Like mid corner, the throttle graph will go crazy as if I'm drifting or something, although I know I'm just doing maintenance throttle. People say that the possible fix for this is to use iPhone in airplane mode. I haven't had a chance to try that yet.
Hope this helps.

Re: RPM data not showing in Chasecam
same here, pm'ed to above user. Posting her too:
hmmm thanks for the info...wel i have 2003 bmw M3 so probably same kind of electronics like the mini..although im not using an external program. Im just staying in HLT and as you mentioned my throttle also goes and up down like insane for no reason....its like it doesn't know what is zero throttle and what is max.
According to harry.HLT is supposed to auto calibrate itself and determine the max value of throttle for e.g at a race start...but i cant seem to make the throttle stable
