Using HLT for car setup

Post by youcandoitall »

Hi Harry,

I would like to do use HLT to record skid pad lap times as a readout for best car setup. For now it's mostly for suspension settings. Please see link: http://winhpde.com/skid-pad-exercises/#dry-skid-pad

I will be running 3-4 laps each time and would like to see individual lap time and total time. Should I use the New Track/ Custom Track feature and let the timer start when cross the trigger point? I'll be using XGPS160, do you think a 30 meter diameter will be large enough for GPS data?

Thank you.

This needs to be tested. The setup can be done with the New Track assistant. It will be necessary to specify the driving direction. Otherwise, you will probably get false triggers when driving on the opposite side. LapTimer pauses 5 seconds after each trigger action. So in case you require less then 5 seconds for the full circle, you will not get every lap triggered.

Thanks for the quick reply. Thanks for the info on the 5 second pause after each trigger action. I think the lap time will be between 10-12 seconds. I'll give it a go and report back.
