Importing GoPro Files over WiFi

I have finally figured out the key to importing the GoPro files over WiFi on my phone. However, I am running into an issue when the GoPro splits a single session to multiple raw files once the file size reaches a certain limit (example - single 30 minute track session is one video on my phone, but split into two raw files on GoPro of 15 mins each). I assume the separate raw files have slightly different meta data which is throwing off the association that HLT makes to the video. Is there any solution other than importing the multiple files to GoPro Studio and combining into a single file before putting them on my phone? Reason I ask is that it will make the WiFi import useless for anything beyond the first video if it requires editing in GoPro Studio first. Thanks!

You need to join the fragments using a video editor on a PC / Mac before copying them to your phone. LapTimer expects full session videos and all lap references are valid for such a full file. You can overlay the first segment's laps directly, but for all other laps, the join is required.

I have to always combine my video segments using the copy to PC, join files, copy to phone and re-link. This is due to the 4 GB limit of file size on the GoPro file system. I find this reliable and the lap times stay synchronized properly. I don't know whether HLT keeps timing marks of the video or that it signals the GoPro to mark the video files. However multiple laps over joined files re-link just fine to all related laps. To join the files I use MP4Joiner which is faster than working with GoPro Studio (at least for me).

In hindsight due to this I wish I bought a GoPro 3 instead of a 4 but live and learn.

There is little to no option to influence what the HERO is storing and where. LapTimer knows when the video has been started and keeps track of the time that passed since than. So it is all done in the app / on the smartphone side. I plan to support an on the fly join in a future version.
