There's not a lot of documentation on the Autocross setup specifically, I've got the Petrolhead version loaded onto my Android and last weekend at my first AX with the device, I had the lap timer stop around 13 sec 6 out of 7 times (I got one full lap recorded). when setting it up for the autocross, it asks to set up the start line, then walk to the finish line. I assumed that this meant to walk the course, but by about halfway through the walk, HLT backed out of the 'set finish line' mode. I wound up walking from the start to the finish directly, to set the finish line.
So am I supposed to set the start line, walk to the finish line and set finish while heading in the finish direction? Do I need to set the corridor width down to eliminate the potential for unwarranted 'Finish Line' reception?
BTW, This course had a start/finish that came back on itself, so I was passing the finish line going both ways about 40-50 feet away through the second turn.
Autocross Start/Finish miscommunication
Re: Autocross Start/Finish miscommunication
That's a tricky setup. When using the AX assistant, LapTimer creates individual go and stop triggers. Starting with v20, you can set a driving direction which filters any trigger approach to those matching this direction roughly.for you scenario, you would walk to start start / finish, press Set (Start), point the compass or device top to the direction you will pass start at. Next, turn around, press Set (Finish), point the device to the opposite direction (the one you will drive over finish) and press Set again. Without directions, this scenario will yield unpredictable results.
As an alternative, use the New Track assistant. It creates one stop/go trigger. Skip direction setting here to allow it to trigger both directions.

Re: Autocross Start/Finish miscommunication
SupeR53,
In my opinion, you need to set the all the corridor widths to the minimum, 5m to minimize false triggers. Setting a direction helps too. But when a direction is set, HLT defaults to the Wide corridor, the default value of which is way too wide for autocross. Even then you may need to move triggers away from each other a little bit.
You may need to set the Allow Low Speeds switch in Expert Settings when walking the course. But you should turn it off before competing. I don't use Standing Go because we stage before the timing line, but too close to allow a trigger at the actual starting line.

Re: Autocross Start/Finish miscommunication
Thanks, that'll help, I'll be trying this this weekend with AX #2 in the series.
Another couple of questions not addressed in the documentation-Is it possible to get inside and outside (front and back) cameras to work with an Android in GP? I can get one or the other, but not both. Also, in street mode the titles in Engine mode overwrite the data if the phone is in landscape mode (rotated) Do I need to keep it in portrait on the street?

Re: Autocross Start/Finish miscommunication
Both cams at a time are not supported. For layout issues for the various Android devices, resolutions, densities and aspect ratios, please send a snapshot and I will check if it can be fixed. Oddly, it is very hard to make it nice for all devices.
