Post by MrBlah »

Error, "LapTimer failed writing the overlaid video. Error reported is 'Code:1, output format not recognized'.

the error is instant, as soon as I click export, I toggled everything off in the export screen and the app crashed

This happens when the Nexus Android implementation does not support the video format overlaid (i.e. decoding) for encoding new videos. But it might be a bug too. Has the video to be overlaid been recorded with the Nexus 7 itself, or is it an external import? Have you tried a different video resolution already?

Ahh, this is making things clearer. I will check the code deciding on the output format and check if I can provide a fall back in case the input video's format is not supported for video creation. It seems the format used by the HERO Silver cannot be used for the Nexus 7... This can be things like resolution, frame rate etc.

MrBlah,

You didn't say what video format you were using on your GoPro 4.

I just did a 1080p 30fps and it worked but I limited it to 1 minute of video

it did fus & crash the first attempt, I tried to "relink" to a gopro video on the gopro and I got a java error. Copied to local first then relinked to that and it exported.

Next problem, odb rate very slow and data shows up in bursts

Thanks for the feedback. So there is obviously a limitation by the internal video encoder and 60fps. It is well possible the decoder is capable of displaying 60fps when the decoder support 30 only. Encoders provided come often with less options compared to the decoder. I need to check for the future how to handle this situation. At least there should be a better error message with guidance to use a different resolution / frame rate.

Re-Linking to a video on the GoPro does not work currently. The video needs to be stored locally. I will fix the crash.

For OBD, please check the data connection. The picture described means connection dropped temporarily and has been restored later. In case you use a Bluetooth adapter, please make sure no other Bluetooth sources (like in car stereo or hands free) is active. Another source for issues are other apps accessing the adapter in background. Please the all of these off / kill them.
