Segment (split) timing

Post by kdm123 »

I am trying to do segment timing. I have not used the app on a real track; only around a track that I created around my neighborhood.

Would a real track like Willow Springs have splits already programmed into it? Can they be changed?

Most predefined track sets come with split triggers. Some older do not. In case you come across one of these, please drop us a note to Tracks@gps-laptimer.de and we will add them. You can add your own splits too, and it is possible to add them after the fact and recalculate split times for laps recorded already based on this.

Thanks for your reply. How do you change the splits to create different segments?

You edit the track's set of POIs. You can find them in LapTimer ‣ any track ‣ first row showing "User Track Set" or "Certified Track Set". To add a new split, use may use the Map View (Add / + function). Detailed instructions can be found on http://www.gps-laptimer.de/documentation (Trigger Logic and Tracks tiles).

Sorry, but your instructions don't work. Please tell me exactly each step of what I need to do. After I got to Lap Timer, what do I click on. There is no "any track." Do you mean go to "load track"? I tried that but I don't know how to go from there. Also, I read the documentation and it does not clearly state how to change triggers for segment timing.
Thank you

It should be LapTimer ‣ Lap List ‣ any track ‣ first row. Replace "any track" by any track you have in your list.

Step by step:
from the main menu, touch Prepare Race
In the Prepare Race Menu, touch Load Track
in the overlay that appears, touch Select Track
Select All at the top
enter Willow Springs in the search bar
touch Load on the Willow Springs International Motorsports Park
Assuming a successful load, touch OK
Then on the next screen, touch Drive
You'll then be in Timer mode
go back to the Main menu and select Analysis
then select Lap List
You should see a line for Willow Springs
touch that
You'll then see the POI list
You can modify the location of any POI by touching its line and changing the latitude and longitude
You can delete any or all POI's using the edit function by touching Edit at the top right
Scroll to the bottom of the list and you will see three options: Purge, which will delete all POI's; Map, which will give you a map, satellite or hybrid view showing the location of all the POI's on the course.
On that screen you can drag a POI to a new location. or add a new one by touching the plus sign at the top right. The new POI will appear at the center of the map screen.
There's also a Test function, but I think you need an actual lap to get to it.

You can also load a track from the Lap List page

Does this still apply in v20?

Nothing happens when I click on the track name in the lap list screen.

Yes it does, but the description is not precise here. Instead of touching the track name, touch the row showing Certified Track set directly below the track line.
