Really bad video quality on HD/Full HD settings on LG G4

Post by autobahn »

Hi.

I recorded lap sessions with my LG G4 in a x-mount RAM mount on the windshield.

To put it very simply, the video seems to be lower than 30 fps and has this wavy almost spacy sort of look to it. Not very good quality.

In fact, the video view (when you start the session and click "video") also has this wavy low fps quality.

I am really disappointed in this, it doesn't really seem like Harry's is going to do what I want. I could see the low FPS on a budget phone but this is almost top of the line as far as processor power goes on the android platform.

If I use the native camera app, there are no issues like this. Takes perfectly great video up to 4K resolution.

I was hoping to analyze data from my track day but it's so hard to watch the video.

Thanks for any help in getting this figured out for next time, or if this can't be fixed perhaps I can pursue a refund as in the current state the app is sorta useless.

Hi,

LapTimer does not select the frame rate but sets resolution only. Please check your setting in LapTimer's Settings. Please let us know which video you are referencing to too. Is it the original / raw video or the overlaid video?

For waviness / jello, please make sure the device is well mounted. For the RAM, the suction cup should be in the tip of the windscreen with the arm pointing down (i.e. vertically, not horizontal).
