I know there have been a few questions asked but nothing seems to help. I have an iPhone 6 plus with the RAM mount. I get crazy vibration and jello. I turned it to 30 FPS and switched all the "auto" things off under the cam options in the app. Are there any secretes? I see some pretty smooth video on youtube. Or maybe with my cars setup it has to be this bad? I have all solid mounts for the engine, trans and diff, Ohlins coils set pretty stiff. Car is an Evo x. I understand the vibration when I am sitting at a idle but once I get moving it isn't as rough as far as engine vibration.
Also I have the Ghost Drift I can use. I have software that can import the data for the overlay onto the video. Is there a link on where that data is stored on the app and how I get it out? I am planning on running the iPhone on the front windshield and the Drift Ghost on the roll bar and maybe barrow a friends gopro for outside the car. I am also using a wifi OBD. I would like to be able to use the iPhone video so I can mix them all together.
Have a track day this sunday so hoping to get it set up. This is the first time I will be using the time. I have the Grand Prix edition.
Thank you and thank's to Harry for a great app.

Re: iPhone 6 Plus
Make sure the RAM's arm is pointing from top to bottom. When using it horizontally, a lot of vertical vibration is added. To use the arm vertically, attach the suction cup to the top of your windscreen and let the arm point down. The smartphone will set "under" the suction cup. That's actually the best can do with recent smartphones (both iOS and Android). Stabilization features added lately are not well suited for track use and add the named jello. The Ghost Drift should create better videos, it is less sophisticated

Make sure your phone is not one of the one with problematic iSight Camera..

Re: iPhone 6 Plus
Thank you. I used it the first time this weekend at a track day. I had the arm straight but still a ton of shake. No big deal I guess. I also had a Drift Ghost on front and GoPro on the rear so I will import the overlay. I was impressed with the timing. They gave us timers at the track that attach to the front bumper and the times between Harry's Laptimer and their official timer were almost right on. And I am using the iPhones GPS.
I am going to get an external GPS in the future. Do the external GPS show g Forces or is all that from the iphone? Is there a more accurate way of getting that number or is it pretty accurate?
As far as the iSight problem. I am planning on getting the 6s Plus in a few weeks. Maybe that will be better. But is reality I just use that video to view while at the track and send to friends until I get the time to edit and add the overlay on my computer.
Thanks again

Acceleration measured (using the smartphone's accelerometer) will be better than acceleration calculated from GPS. The problem when using the internal GPS is that acceleration is stored at the same rate as GPS. This means only 1 Hz while the rate sampled is 30 Hz and beyond. Once you have an external GPS (usually 10Hz), you will get acceleration at this increase rate - which is important for tracks with rapid direction changes.

Re: iPhone 6 Plus
I had the lens updated under warranty. Still bad Jello. I see posts online and it's perfect. My friend's iphone 6 plus looks good as well. I am wondering if the RAM mount is too solid? My friend is using some ebay cheapy holder. Maybe a little give in the holder helps reduce vibrations? I am thinking about trading the phone in for a iPhone 6s or the Samsung Edge Plus. Just don't want to trade if I am going to have the same problem. And not too sure about droid. If it's as good for the laptimer as the iphone. I tried the RAM mount and many different angles, it's all the same. I know this isn't a App problem. Just asking to see if anybody else had the problem and fixed it.
Re: iPhone 6 Plus
I've been using HLT since iPhone 3G (no video
) and while the App has constantly getting better, the videos (meaning the camera in the phone) have been getting worse since iPhone 5. All of the great features of the newer smartphone cams simply aren't made for heavy vibration environments. For me, iPhone 4S made the best full HD videos.

Do they make a mount that reduces vibrations? I think it's the harsh vibration that's the problem. If I hold the phone while driving it comes out pretty nice.

Re: iPhone 6 Plus
That's not surprising as that's what the video nannies in the newer phones were designed to do, keep hand-held video from making you nauseous. However, there's an obvious trade-off there. Do you want clear video or good data? A really soft mount is going to make the accelerometer data nearly useless.EvolutionX wrote:Do they make a mount that reduces vibrations?
