Qstarz at 1Hz
Qstarz at 1Hz
I used Harry's LapTimer for the first time over the weekend. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 mounted with a Modify bracket in my S2000 and a Qstarz 818XT mounted to the rear deck. The system said it was connected to the Qstarz but recorded only about 16 total laps over the entire day; almost all were recorded at 1Hz except for a single lap recorded at 10Hz. Most laps didn't produce segment times and one "lap" missed the start/stop POI six times in a row.
The accessories FAQ states that the Qstarz must be run in 5Hz mode and these two threads mention reconfiguring NMEA to 5Hz.

Is there anything I should do with my configuration to increase the resolution to something stable above 1Hz? I'd hate to force it to 5Hz when I am able to use SoloStorm at 10Hz.
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
In case the QStartz is not configured to 1 Hz but your recordings show 1 Hz only, chances are good it disconnected and LapTimer used the internal GPS. Please make sure no Helper apps are active while using LapTimer and watch the connection status.
The QStartz 818 seems to not be able to deliver DGPS at 10 Hz. Options: run it at 5 Hz with DGPS, run it at 10 Hz but use lower accuracy (GPS), or exchange it by another device.

Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
Is there a writeup on how to configure the DGPS to 5Hz?
Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
Qstarz provides a tool to configure the Hz for each of the two positions on the Hz switch. However, it doesn't work on OSX or Windows 10 so I don't have access to the tool at the moment.
I'm confused why SoloStorm will run NMEA at 10Hz all day but Harry's Laptimer cannot.

Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
In case you use the same Qstarz GPS with the SS, it looks like an issue with your Android configuration - e.g. some GPS Helper apps, or a problem with the BT connection. LapTimer has no problems processing 1, 5, 10, 20 or 50 Hz GPSes.imstimpy wrote: I'm confused why SoloStorm will run NMEA at 10Hz all day but Harry's Laptimer cannot.

Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
This is a vanilla Samsung OS. The only items installed are SoloStorm and Harry's Laptimer; no GPS helpers unless Samsung installed them.
Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
You need to recheck your configuration. Make sure no apps accessing the Qstarz while LapTimer is active (anything running in background). Try setting up the sensor from Sensor List again (i.e. remove and add again as GPS device). Etc

Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
I used SS on my 818XT yesterday without issue. I rebooted the device and launched HLT to continue troubleshooting- it would not connect to the 818XT at all! There are no running apps, no GPS Helpers, and HLT always shows "Not Available" for the 818XT. Removing and re-adding doesn't change the status.
Re: Qstarz at 1Hz
Question: are you sure the QStarz did ever connect with LapTimer? In case it didn't you may try to switch BT connection to use the so called "insecure" mode:
