No video in timer mode

Post by BlackSS »

I downloaded Grand Prix yesterday so I could use the multi-cam function with my GoPro. The app turns the GoPro on/off without issue and records video on both, however, I cannot see the actual video that is being recorded in any of the view modes. When I click on the video button, most of the screen is whited out with the record button at the very top of the screen behind the status icons. I watched one of Harry's videos and noticed the record button was in the middle of the screen. Is there a setting I need to change? Maybe the app does not support the new IOS.

FYI...I am using an iPhone 6 Plus running IOS 9.

Hi,

This is a known issue for iOS9. There is a number of LapTimer screens that show up "misadjusted" after installing it. LapTimer version 19.0.20 (which is in review by Apple for 8 days now :-( ) will fix most of this issues.

Thanks Harry. I noticed another thread on this same issue right after I posted (face palm). Its not a big issue really. I won't be looking there, I shouldn't, be looking on the screen anyway. I am using it for the first time today for an autocross with my GoPro, so we will see how it goes.

I didn't get any video with the autocross feature. It triggered and captured data but no video. I wonder if I missed a step.

You were in Video View or pressed Record Auto when leaving it? You can see the video status looking at the status bar in Timer View. While white (and not gray), it will record video.

Just upgraded to iOS 9 after the v19.0.20 update was released. Unfortunately the described issue still persists, the video view is white and the two record buttons at the top, only half visible and overlayed by the info bar. I haven't tried if the video is triggered while driving though.

:-(

Please check if you can reproduce it in standard conditions or find a workaround by e.g. starting Video View in portrait / landscape. That's a bug nevertheless. I have prepared the next version with iOS9 fixes for submission already... My current version doesn't reproduce this issue anymore, maybe I have missed to change for the 19.0.20 submission and submitted it later.

There are still some issues with screen updates when leaving Video View too.

Kiling the App and then going into video view from timer while in portrait does the trick, video view looks right. Sending it to background mode gives you the landscape timer view, even if the phone is in portrait. Keeping it in portrait you can go back and forth between views, once you turn the phone to landscape, video view is messed up and going back to portrait doesn't help, App has to be killed. Btw. the App switcher is in landscape too while holding the phone in portrait...some kind of rotation problem?
I also noticed some of the smaller number fields are to small for the new iOS 9 font and numbers get cut. Switching back to the old Helvetica in settings does the trick.

Still no go for me. I opened the app in portrait and it goes to landscape when I go to video mode with the same view as before the update. I manually started recording and when I manually stopped it, Siri's speech was slurred (like she just got back from an all nighter) when reading back the timing results. I chuckled a bit.

Yes, there are still some known issues. For the latest status, please check viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1693

The video view shows up correctly for me almost always. I have not found a reliable way to reproduce the issue. I'd appreciate if someone can send me a video clip showing the steps to reproduce (device orientation seems to have an impact). This clips needs to start after LapTimer is killed, so I can see the full sequence.

It is possible to add some brute force adjustment for the next submission, but I'd rather be sure to have it really fixed then.
