How auto start/stop work if I run multiple laps

Post by mrunquick »

Hi,

I just bought the $19.95 version and going to use it at Thunderhill track with my iPhone. Can someone tell me how does Auto start/stop work when running on track? Is it suppose to auto start when passing the black/white starting line? If yes, does it mean that will auto stop every single lap when I pass black/white starting line? I am running a 15 minutes session with multiple laps and like to use laptimer to video and record all the data as a single video file with data. How can I do that?

What if I use manual start/stop instead. Does Auto start/stop will take over manual start/stop every time when I pass black/white starting line?

Thanks.

In standard mode (with Video enabled, i.e. either while in Video View or after pressing Record Auto for iOS ), LapTimer will sit and do nothing until you pass the start / finish the first time. This is typically after the warm up lap. Every time you cross the s/f again, it will stop and store the last lap and start another one. Video recoding will be continuous and one big session video.

When coming back into the pits, the video will still be recoding and a lap is timed (the cool down lap). You need to press Cancel here to stop and purge cool down and stop the session video.

For more information and other options, please check the Video Documentation available from www.gps-laptimer.de

I selected Timer (Timer, Speedo, Classic, Racer's) as suggested by the app. Is that Standard mode? I was wondering when would be a situation that need to do a manual start/stop video?

Standard mode mean video standard mode here. There is an option named "mixed mode" where it is possible to start video recording manually so you get footage for your warm up lap too. This part is described in Video Documentation as mentioned before. My recommendation is to leave this to a later session or track day, things are complicated enough in the beginning :-)
