How to store videos on SD Cad

Post by Shrekmachine »

Hi, HLT (Petrolhead) is storing Videos only on the device. How can I "convince" it to store on the external SD Card?

Selection of the place to store files is done when LapTimer is started. It checks all places shown in Video List for the one with most memory available. The winner gets #1 on this list and is the place new videos go.

Doesn't seem to work properly here. 30 GB on SD, around 7,5 on Device. HLT selects Device. Would be good to be able to select/configure manually.

PS: installed new formatted SD Card. HLT complaint about damaged db structure (oder sowas ähnliches) and I had finally to reenter my Car configuration as it was overwritten with template db

1) Kill LapTimer and start it again. This triggers the selection again.
2) In case this doesn't work, please goto Video List and make sure the SD card is listed at all. Android has no common scheme were external cards are mounted and depending on make / model and Android version it may simply be missed completely.
3) In case it is available, but not moved to position #1, please check viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1933 and create a log including trace class "Video". Enable logging, open Video List once, and stop logging again. Send the log file afterwards and I will check...

I'm no friend of forcing users to select the drive. True, it can be combined with an automatic approach and ignored in case it makes no sense (e.g. SD card has been removed), but as long as the current approach work for most users, it is considered good. ;-)

It seems something crashed LapTimer... The databases are always stored on internal memory.

done. From the email I see already that HLT is not recognizing the SD Card. But it is there and correctly displayed in my Settings for the device

Thanks for sending the log. You didn't say you are using a BB Z30... ;-) Although Android compatibility has improved lately, the Z30 is obviously still special. LapTimer uses several channels which expose mounted SD cards, but it seems the only one made available is the emulated (internal) SD card. You may try to use ES File Explorer - which is specialized on file level handling - maybe they know the mounting point LapTimer doesn't find. Install this app and let me know if you can access the external SD card using it or not. In case you can access it, please let me know which mounting point it has. The one for the internal SD card is /mnt/sdcard

O.k. Although this adds a device dependency, I'll try adding this path to the next release. Please try and let me know if it works. If not, you need to clean up your main memory ;-)
