OBD Data Drops and Duplication

Post by mkaunitz »

Car: Porsche 1999 996 Carrera
Phone: HLT on iPhone 5 with iOS 8.3
GoPoint BT-1 Bluetooth OBD Sensor
Dual XGPS150A Bluetooth GPS

Running into issues with data drops and duplication. Occasionally the OBD data drops out completely or duplicate rows are entered so it appears that its "stuck". The issue is very inconsistent and if I switch the BT-1 and use my old OBD-Link MX I get the same kind of issues

CSV Data file is attached.

Also you will notice on the data that the accelerometer in the iphone was not working which i didnt know at the start of that day. I powered the phone off at the end of the day and it was back to working correctly the next day

Repeating OBD data simply means no new data came in... I assume there is some issue with OBD communication. Please check the FAQ on Debugging OBD Connections here on the forum. Please add a link to this threat when sending the log.

Thanks for sending the log. What I see is "parallel requests" are enabled but the BT1 returns not all PIDs requested in parallel. This in turn makes LapTimer reset the connection and reconnect. There are three options to check:

1) Make sure you have the latest firmware installed (177.0.6 or later)
2) In case the adapter is up to date already, try sequential requests (LapTimer ‣ Administration ‣ Settings ‣ Expert Settings ‣ OBD Tweaks
3) In case this doesn't work either, exclude requests for battery voltage by excluding PID 0720 (see settings path above)
