we are driving the GLP on the Nordschleife and we want to use Laptimer as the tool to count and achieve our lap times.
therefore we have 5 small questions - during a test of the laptimer (iphone) in the last GLP we were running in a problem .
within the GLP - you have 1st lap introduction / 2nd lap Set time / 3rd to 5th lap achieve set time / 6th lap Rollout
question 1
the only way to use the laptimer is to drive the 1st lap, stop on Döttinger Höhe , Menu -> race -> timer -> set Ref
We expected that laptimer starts after crossing the starting line - but it fails .
What happens ?
question 2
is there a possibility to include the GLP logic as a feature in the laptimer - that it will work automatically - etc. you press the button before the introduction lap and it runs and runs without any fingertip in the 6 laps ?
so something like the GLP STOPWATCH tool
this will be great (Buy in app feature)
question 3
is the laptimer tool on android the similar as on IOS ?
question 4
GoPro Feature : how can we manage that crossing the starting line starts a new video recording on the GoPro
question 5
we use the configuration NORDSCHLEIFE RCN - we assume that the Starting line in the configuration is not the same as in reality .
Is there a possibility to change / adjust the starting line and how can we do this ?
Thanks a lot for your help and bye axl
GLP + Laptimer
Re: GLP + Laptimer
q1: Have you loaded the GLP track set and purged all other Nordschleife track sets? To set the reference, press the "Set"/"Setze" Button during the 2nd lap. This will store the lap as reference lap once you pass the 2nd lap's finish.
q2: See q1 - the functionality has actually been introduced for GLP
It is still one button press though...
q3: It is mostly the same now.
q4: Please check the video docs available: http://www.gps-laptimer.com/LapTimerDoc ... hapter.pdf It will be updated to v19 shortly, but will help to get an idea on how to connect the GoPros
q5: Just search for "GLP" in the search bar and the correct configuration is shown. As written on q1, please let LapTimer purge all other Nordschleife configuration when asked. You can load them (e.g. BTG) at any time. The GLP configuration has the start / finish line set at T13.

Re: GLP + Laptimer
Not trying to be a smart ass, but the use of GPS based hardware is not allowed on the GLP...nevertheless it is useless because it 's based on GPS an therefore always with a small delay. So perfect for automatic lap-timing, analyzing and controlling your Gopro, but you will never achieve the necessary accuracy for the last tenths/s to be competitive.
A manually operated tool will be better: http://glpstopwatch.fr-racing.de/

Re: GLP + Laptimer
Can't comment on the regulations, but the comment on GPS is probably misleading. It is correct you have a lag and will drive the last one or two seconds "blind". Nevertheless, using the gap calculation built into LapTimer, you get constant feedback if you are ahead or behind the reference lap during the full lap. This is of great value as it allows you to stay in a certain corridor (plus / minus) of your set time. This is not possible with any timer based system not providing location specific feedback. Assuming a constant drive for the last 1 or 2 seconds, the tool will add value to achieve the overall time at least in a sub second (or better) precision too.

Re: GLP + Laptimer
At least for the GLPs I participated in, nobody really drives the whole lap trying to achieve a constant lap time...basically you drive as fast as you want and then stop at a defined section of the Döttinger Höhe and leave it at your predefined time, so in fact the regularity part is only from the tourist entry to T13.
Re: GLP + Laptimer
That is probably due to missing LapTimer support
You try to stay in a corridor (or be a bit faster) by using your regularity skills, and adjust the result by slowing down ahead of arriving at finish. In case you do it like this, simple timing equipment is fine (but not optimal).
With gap analysis, there is actually no need to stay +- 0 gap all the time. If e.g. you need to slow down due to traffic, and lose 5 seconds, you know(!) you have lost 5 seconds, and can use the remaining distance to compensate. You don't need to compensate directly ahead of finish (which by the way is limited in many regularity race rules).
