iCloud backup and restore

Post by devenh »

Before getting my iPhone 6 yesterday I did an iCloud backup. Got the new phone and did a restore. All the apps came back, but looks like all the data did not. Anyone else run into this problem?

Once you have started the restore process, data is restored in background. Usually you need to wait a while and everything in LapTimer's data appears again. Please do not touch the app until the process has been finished. Just wait some hours.

I took a look at my iCloud storage and it looks like very little of it was used. This suggests that the video and data in HLT was never backed up. Does something have to be set to enable iCloud backup of data? I thought I was backing up everything and I did this using Wifi.

It is curious that some apps reinstalled with all their data and some did not.

Yes, but it may depend on the amount of data etc. Please keep in mind you probably had large raw videos sitting in LapTimer's sandbox...

Yes I did have large raw videos. These would not be backed up?

They go into the backup - I just wanted to point out that exactly this may create issues. As you have checked iCloud space consumption, it seems the issue is somewhere else. Have you considered creating a full backup to the desktop from iTunes and start the process to the new phone again?

I no longer have the old phone, so I can't back it up to iTunes. Not a big deal, but just a heads up to others who are upgrading phones to double check their backups.

I have a 64G IPOD used as a multicam and a 128G iPhone 6 used as my primary camera. Both were set-up to use iCloud and transfer automatically in HLT. I increased my iCloud space to 200G. I have a 50G up/down internet. Seems the data did not come across from multicam. Both phones are connected to same network. Any thoughts?

Also with iPhones doubling in GB rom 64 to 128GB does it have any effect in HLT to scale with larger DB sizes as I am just curious if there is any performance issues if HLT grows over a certain size.

Thanks

No, there should be no performance issue from additional space.
