Got lap timer plus kiwi wifi, how do I record and overlay?

Post by Gibbo »

Hi there

Got 14.2 lap timer pro and kiwi wifi and using an iPhone 4

I want to record my track days in landscape so phone is not upright and then add the overlay to my videos including certain extra OBD data such as revs, throttle position and if possible wheel speed and not gps speed.

Is this possible or what is and how do I do it please?

Hi,

Prep: Download the track set you will race on (Add-ons)
  1. Connect the Kiwi as described in their documentation, establish the ad hoc connection
  2. Start LapTimer, make sure OBD is working (please check while engine is running)
  3. Select one of the timer views (Classic, Speedo, Racer, Timer) and press the Video button
  4. Turn your iPhone to landscape and mount it firm
  5. Confirm you have mounted the iPhone in landscape by pressing the button
  6. Drive
Once you pass the triggers defined in the track set downloaded, LapTimer will automatically start time and video recording.
Please not you need to cancel the last incomplete lap manually (very small button in the video top left).
In addition, please note that LapTimer currently video records every other lap only (currently, will be changed in v15).

Back in the pits, to get your overlaid video, navigate from Lap List to an individual lap containing both video and data recording (Lap Details). Press the Overlay button in the bottom of the screen. Wait and finally enjoy the result.
