Overlay Lap Data in order to compare performance.

Post by jsouder »

Hi Harry - I love your product! I have been using PetrolHead all year and I find it to be very reliable and useful. I would, however, really like a couple of additional features. I apologize if they are available and I have not found them...!!! I use an Android (Razr Maxx HD) and race a motorcycle.

1. I need to compare laps. The ability to overlay two or more laps to compare sector speeds (entering and exiting turns for example) would be extremely helpful. I understand I can view sector speeds for certain laps each session, but I need to flip back and forth or record the speeds and then go look at another. The ability to overlay laps would be priceless!

2. I would like to view lap and session data on my PC. I use your product to analyze my performance and I find it difficult to really study and analyze data on the little Android screen. I have successfully exported .CSV data to my PC to overlay telemetry with video, so I assume it would not be too difficult to create an app for my PC that would allow me to view same data on a large PC screen. See #1 above...I really want to overlay fastest laps with slower laps and compare what I did right and what I did wrong.

3. Finally, I have yet to figure out how to ensure my G-force data is collected. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The error message in the app refers to a device calibration that is not available on Android.

Thanks Harry! Love your product and have "sold" it to two of my friends already!

[Moved to Using LapTimer]

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. Some thoughts on your requests:

1. Please select any lap from Lap List you want to analyze. Scroll down to the Results section and select the row showing the small bar chart. This will bring you to a multi lap sector by sector / lap to lap comparison chart. Zoom in to get more details.
2. Try the VBO export and Racelogic's Circuit Tools 2. It is free.
3. For motorcylces, acceleration needs to be calculated from GPS currently. When overlaying, you will be prompted to run this calculation. In case you want to trigger that calculation to analyze the data, select Lap List -> lap -> Recalculate -> Acceleration.
