audio sync issues

Post by arsprod »

It appears that my source audio is out of sync with the video. I thought this was only happening when overlaying the data but I've confirmed it's on the original. Android Petrolhead 18.3.5 - any way to adjust? thanks

That requires some advanced video editor...

I was wondering if there is a setting/preference that would check the sync at time of recording

Nope. That's a problem with the video track. The offset setting in HLT is for matching data to video. It has no effect on the video audio track separately. That's fixed when it's recorded.

Some video editors will allow a small change in sound track timing to match lip movement and speech. However, if the offset is more than about 0.1 seconds, you'll need to strip out the sound track, known as demuxing, and paste it back in starting at a different frame.

And way more effort than it's worth - it's odd that it gets progressively worse as the video progresses, e.g. the tire squeals are correct up front and get out of sync as recording continues. I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue with my phone?

Is the tire squeal getting earlier or later? If it's later, video frames are being dropped while the audio track is unchanged. The reverse would mean that frames are being added. Demuxing and remuxing won't help with that. Is the problem in the original video before overlaying?

Squeal is coming earlier and yes, shows in the original before overlay
