GoPro Hero 3+ with Lap Timer at same time

HI,
I intend to make video with GoPro and, at the same time, be able to view the Lap Timer while recording takes place normally.
Can anyone tell me please how I can do this? Thank you.

Using Timer View as an example, I believe what you want to do is press the Video button then press Record Auto. As you drive, you'll be able to see the Timer View, but video will be recording.
