BT1 OBD Issue and Overlay Causing Crash

Hi Harry,

I have been using Lap Timer for about 2 years or so. Since upgrading the software to the latest version, my BT1 OBD Dongle is only showing up 0s in Lap Timer. I never had this problem before. When I run GPS Buddy it shows everything without issue. No sure what to do to correct this issue. Checking under OBD tweaks the "Exclude PiDs" is blank and "Auto Exclude PiDs" is off. I'm driving at 2003 Porsche 911 Cabriolet (C2).

The second challenge I'm having is overlaying video. I'm using a GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition and have imported into photos. The video has recorded in 960 resolution @ 30 FPS When I try to overlay it will get to 99% and then lap timer shuts off. I'm running it on an iPad mini and have several gigs of memory free. What should I do to correct the issue?

Please always add your system configuration when reporting problems (OS version, iPhone/iPad gen / Android model).

OBD: please check if you have the latest LapTimer version installed. Unplug/Replug the BT1. There has been a bug producing this effect in iOS7.1 and iOS7.1.1 The problem has been fixed in iOS7.1.2 So please check your OS version too. Do not update to iOS8 when offered! iOS8 breaks LapTimer operation currently. iOS8 problems will be fixed with LapTimer 18.3.3

In case you have an iPad mini 1st gen, the overlay issue is due to the limited main memory (not storage). This is a known problem in iOS growing the media server used to process frames unlimited - which finally kills LapTimer. To work around, reboot your mini before starting an overlay, overlay less laps in a row, or remove MultiCam recordings.

Sorry about that Harry. I'm using a dash integrated iPad mini ( first generation) running iOS ves 7.0.4. I needed to jailbreak so it would switch on and off with the ignition. Does the bug exist in this version 7.0.4? Really love your app. Thanks for the help!

It's not a software bug / issue but simply the lack of physical memory on that particular iPad generation. Have you tried rebooting before overlaying as suggested? That way you have as much free memory as possible without any other Apps using it.

To my knowledge the BT bug has been introduce in iOS 7.1.
In case 7.1.2 does not work for you, you need to follow the instructions to debug OBD connections available here on the forum.

Harry is it possible prior to the overlay process to have the app use the GPS data instead of the OBD, since the OBD didn't function properly? If so, how do I remove the OBD data? Thanks.

When starting the overlay, you can find a switch on the second page (swipe) that allows to select OBD as None, Standard, or Extended. Select None to remove the OBD gadgets.
