video stored raw, why not compressed?

Post by srwhitman »

Why are videos not stored compressed?
I did one session and didn't realize how much space it used - almost 2GB!

Is there any way (besides reducing resolution) to store videos raw? What happens after processing, when transferred to the Photo section on iOS? Will that convert them to use less space?

Thanks!

Videos are certainly compressed (using H.264). Raw may be defined different for cams, in LapTimer it simply means "as delivered by the video system". A FullHD video requires 190MB/minute - when compressed using H.264 with standard parameters.
