V.18.1 add splits to existing laps

Post by ddozier »

I have been playing around trying to figure out how to add split times to an existing track set and then apply them to existing laps. The new upgrade has this listed in the "Whats New" for the app so I am trying to make this work. I am working with the Certified Track set for "Putnam Park Road Course". Here are the steps I have tried so far but did not have any luck, any instruction on how to make this work would be helpful. I am using an iPhone 4S and v.18.1 on iOS 6.1.2. iOS 7.1.2 is available but I have not updated yet.

These are the steps I have tried so far.
Step 1: Go to lap list and find track set for Putnam Park at the header for the recorded laps. Open Right arrow for track set to view existing POI's
Step 2: Right arrow on POI labeled Turn3, change POI type to trigger, and rename to "Turn3 Split 1", set trigger type to "Split" and set angle to 95 degrees
Step 3: return to POI list, Right arrow on POI labeled Turn7, change POI type to trigger, and rename to "Turn7 Split 2", set trigger type to "Split" and set angle to 195 degrees
Step 4: Return to Lap List, noticed track set now says "User Track Set"
Step 5: Open lap in lap list, in the Data Recording section press "Recalculate", then the app crashes and I get sent back to the home page of the iPhone Device

Any help would be great.

Thanks

The procedure is fine. On step #5: does it crash when selecting "Recalculate" (which would be completely unexpected), or when selecting "Splits" or "Verify Lap"? In case it is the later, please export the lap this happens for to .hlptrl and send it to me.

As soon as I hit "Recalculate" on any lap even a lap in another track set the app crashes and returns me to the home screen of the device, the app does not close completely as it appears in the running apps screen, when you select the icon from the running app screen to re-open it the app restarts from the "I agree" splash screen.

I do not see the options for "splits" or "Verify Lap".

O.k., I missed the iOS6.1.2... The crash is due to some missing backward compatibility in LapTimer's current version. I have stopped running extensive tests for iOS6 some time ago as the share of users not upgrading to iOS7 is pretty small nowadays. I will add a fix to the next release, once it gets available, step 5 should work.

Thank You,

I just tried it on a 5s with iOS7 and the options for "splits" and a few other options were there, chose "Split all laps" (I think is what it said) it worked and added the splits to the laps and calculated the virtual best based on the laps present in the database, however in the data recording section of the actual lap, then arrow into the preview section, the preview no longer shows the graduated G readings and once in the preview the "LAPS" tab shows no data for any of the laps recorded.

Is there a way to rebuild the laps list to show the laps and splits in the LAP tab?

In case the Laps tab does not show anything either a filter is set, or one of the laps has some wrong lap time or split calculations leading to a odd scaling. Please check you laps for nan (not a number) or other strange values.

I did the update from iOS6 to iOS7 last night and was able to make everything work, I will check the scaling on the other iOS7 device.

Thanks for your help, and do not worry about the iOS6 issues on my account. I realize I was in the minority being on iOS6 still.

No problem and thanks for reporting. As long as I keep iOS6 support, I will certainly fix issues (and the one above is fixed already).
