So large, in fact, that it's likely a lot of cars won't reach 200 kph on the straights of most race tracks. Most of us don't live in areas where there are highways with no speed limit so a 100-200 kph run shouldn't be made on a public road. And then there's wind.... Why not 20-100 or whatever your speed range in second gear. For 100-200, you don't need a high update rate because the acceleration is going to be a lot lower. You need high update rate for a low gear because you spend so little time in it.
It's also not difficult to do by using manual timing and exporting the data to a spreadsheet.
Oh, it is a frequent exercise on German Autobahn Some even try the 100 to 300 km/h drag (and it is legal).
If you weren't going to get run over, you could also get useful data on aero and mechanical drag by putting in the clutch and coasting. At high speed, deceleration will be dominated by aero drag and at low speed by mechanical drag (tire rolling resistance, etc.).
Simply start logging manually with HLT and do several runs 100-200, 100-300 even mixing them if you like. When you finished your runs you simply stop the logging and export your data as .VBO. Now get the free Software "Performance Tools" from Racelogic and load your VBO file. Performance Tools will search your file for all kinds of performance test, including the ones you mentioned.
I do the export and analysis excercise with HLT when I measure 100-200 times. You can also use as SW from a German guy called "dbscanner", works very well for all kind of speed ranges.
however, it's cumbersome as you cannot see any prelim results while still in the car and testing.
Don't want to be a smart ass...but there's a big difference between a performance meter and a laptimer. There are ways to do what you guys ask for with HLT as stated in this thread. The same goes for all the requests concerning regularity runs (btw. GPS isn't the way to go for that kind of usage) etc. Those are completely different tasks and need completely different Apps. Just my two cents...I still prefer HLT evolving as a laptimer rather than becoming an all-round anything goes type of App with no specific functionality. Besides: a lot of users already have trouble with the actual functionality of the App and all of those peformance / regularity features would make it worse. In my opinion a separate "Harry's Performance Meter" would be the way to go.
They recently updated it...but the real problem is is does only work from a stand still abd not on the roll. They kind of like to do things the wrong way: their laptimer needs you to be on the roll to define a track and things like 100-200kmh must be done from a stand still...yeah, right [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]
