MultiCAM and iCloud

Post by llan981 »

I am using HLTv18 and an IPOD (master) and iPhone 5s (multi cam) and GoProBE 3+(multi cam):

1. I have iCloud turned on in both master and multi cam iPhone. Does the HLT applications have to be in the foreground transferring file to iCloud or can it work in background?

2. The multicam file transfers from iCloud to the master via a wifi connection. After the transfer is completed, is the file automatically deleted from the multi cam to iCloud, yes? from iCloud after transfer to master, yes?

3. As the transfer may take a long time to complete, if the wifi connection is lost during transfer, does the file restart where it left off or start from beginning. Is there any error checking to see if file is transferred without errors

4. Please describe what the 3 "multi cam presets are. It was not clear to me in the documentation

1. iCloud works in background. Once the MultiCam app has triggered the transfer, it runs in background up to the iPod's iCloud directory.
2. In case you have "Auto Send Videos" enabled in the MultiCam app, it places the video into the cloud (but keeps the local copy). Once LapTimer pulls the video from the cloud (see "Auto Receive Video"), it is removed from the MultiCam app.
3. Yes, the transfer is retried until it is successful. Connections may break in-between, not be available for a day, etc. - no problem. As long as you have wifi coverage, the transfer can be pretty fast. Sometimes it takes some minutes until it starts...
4. LapTimer can control the MultiCam app's video resolution (it does not currently for the HERO). So if you select "Picture in Picture" here, it will switch the video resolution on the MultiCam device to SD, while "Maximum Resolution (Master)" selects HD / FullHD.

Please check http://www.gps-laptimer.com/LapTimerDoc ... hapter.pdf in addition. It includes a description of he cloud features. Actually it behaves like a sync mechanism, not like a network drive...

With the master and multi cam, does HLT or mulitcam app stop recording if a phone call, text message, or other banner gets displayed on the phone? If yes, which apps suspend or fully stop the recording functions?

Incoming calls and calendar events send the current app to background. While incoming calls cannot be blocked, calendar events can be muted by allowing an app to modify the calendar. The later is planned for one of the next releases. To work around incoming calls, please forward calls to your mailbox. This setting can be found in the Phone Settings.
