Harry,
It would be awesome if you could enable applink for Fords via openXC. I think this would also give access to the ODB2 data via the cars bluetooth.
Here is link to ford dev site.

Make HLT applink enabled via openXC
Re: Make HLT applink enabled via openXC
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the pointer.
I signed up and but need to say they really p*** me off as a developer. This is a huge, complex, and difficult to jump start framework, mainly focussed on voice recognition, and very limited information on what is interesting for us racers (i.e. car bus information). Furthermore they feel responsible for all the (certainly important) driver distraction topics and give tons of don'ts to make everything safe. Well possible this is necessary from a legal side for an automotive company, but an additional approval process from Ford (
) is something I cannot and do not want to add to the process complexity I'm already facing with all the platforms and gadgets...
It seem automative companies and suppliers (Pioneer is another example) really need to learn how to foster investments from independent developers... They need to make it a good developer experience - not an obstacle before you can do some cool innovative stuff.
So my feedback is "yes, I'd love to integrate additional information from manufacturer specific sources", but "no, I cannot pursue it this way". I plan to provide a plug in framework for LapTimer sensors in the near future which allows 3rd parties to integrate into LapTimer. Maybe Ford and others want to take this opportunity
