Overlaying video is showing stupid speed and no OBD data

Help on issues you run into with LapTimer; in case you have a question on how to use LapTimer, use the forum "Using LapTimer" instead

Re: Overlaying video is showing stupid speed and no OBD data

Thanks Harry.

So I checked all laps and none of it shows a track symbol. Therefore I take it I have lost all data of the motorsport event :-(

But at least I have learned that only iPhone 4S or later are reliable devices for HLT to work properly.
So there are no similar know issues with those devices, where users did not notice any problem during a motorsport event and then got frustrated at home as data were lost like it happened to me?

With the other topic I guess my question was slightly different:
Sometimes (only once so far) I have seen (while recording as the overlay did not work, see above) two instruments in the right lower corner: The usual one showing the rpms and gears and another one on the right side of that, showing stuff like current engine power used, fuel and (water?) temp.
My question is: one what circumstances does it depend which information will be shown (and recorded hopefully)? It seems to have nothing to do with the car because on the same 997S i have seen it (once) and not (in all other occasions). This is not a "problem" but it would be nice to know.

Thanks again for your great and quick support (even when my data of last weekend could not been recovered)!
It's great to see the level of engagement you are putting in this software and helping your customers.

Best

The iPhone4 will work fine with two external sensors *without* video, and most probably with video only. So it is simply too much attached for your situation.

The seconds ("extended") OBD features are power, coolant or oil temperature, and fuel level. It is available in GP only and can be turned on / off in the video overlay settings (None/Standard/Extended).

Hi Harry,

I also could not overlay the OBD data on the video. Strange thing is that I used to do that, with the same iPhone 5, same OBD device and the Petrol Head edition.
Now when I launch the "Overlay" function, the GPS speed and track are displayed, but nothing from the OBD appears although it was correctly displayed during the run.
And in the "Configuratio Incrustations" section I cannot select OBDII gadget.
Also, no data related to the OBD in the csv anymore, although I used to have it. What should I do ?

Many thanks in advance for your help, and for ths great app

The root cause for no OBD in the overlay is there has been no OBD data recorded. For any lap selected from Lap List, you will find a row named "Fixes". This row shows an number of fixes plus the channels included - e.g. (GPS, ACCEL). In case you see no OBD entry here, it has not been available during recording (e.g. disconnected etc).

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Yes but that's the thing; here I have 192(GPS, ACCEL, OBD). And my OBD was connected during the run as the gadget was displayed, the rpm were reacting with the throttle and so forth. :?:

O.k. so please check the OBD overlay setting. It is placed on the second page of "Overlay Configuration" (use swipe to go there). Make sure the OBD segment control has either "Standard" or "Extended" selected (not "None").

Yes it's on the standard mode, I can't access the extended mode as I have the Petrol Head version.
Can I try to desinstall/reinstall HarryLT without loosing video ? I saved the session on my dropbox already.

Where do I find "Overlay Configuration" settings? I want to try using GPS speed by ticking the switch on page 2.

Lap List -> any lap -> Overlay button -> Overlay Configuration dialog. It is the one you select the range of laps to be overlaid from.

Don't you then have to swipe from right to left to get to the options screen?
